In addition to his current administration activities in the goverment (as of July 2015). Since 1997, He has been involved with variety of tasks in the Directorate General of Higher Education, and was a member of the Development Council in the Board of Higher Education (2002-2007). He was also a consultant on Improving Relevance and Quality of Undergraduate Education (IRQUE, World Bank), Ministry of Education Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (2004-2006). Since 2008, He has been actively involved in the International Deans’ Course (IDC) [organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrueck, the German Rector’s Conference (HRK), the CHE Center for Higher Education, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation] as member of the program committee and regional expert; the IDC covering, among others, the following subjects, i.e., university governance, strategic and operative management, financial management, leadership, and change management. He has also participated in various trainings on higher education management and leadership held in Asia and Europe.
By the way, as an entomologist by training, as a Professor of Entomology, in ITB campus, along with his teaching activities, he has been working with insects, such as mosquitoes, cockroaches and flies, which develop resistance to insecticides as well as developing methods, including bait to control various urban and industrial pests, including Rats. Previously, he was interested in the adaptive significance of behavioral and physiological characteristics of insects and research where the fields of behavior, ecology, and physiology overlap.
